Seven well-known personalities of differing faiths and beliefs take on a challenging 300km pilgrimage through the majestic Austrian and Swiss Alps.

Across three episodes, the celebrity pilgrims embark on a personal journey along a revived medieval Catholic route, starting just outside Innsbruck on the Austrian Camino and travelling west towards their final destination, Einsiedeln Abbey in the foothills of the Swiss Alps – a place of pilgrimage for over a thousand years.

Beginning in the picturesque village of Inzing, 17km outside the Tyrolean capital, the group follow the medieval Salt Road through centuries-old Alpine villages. Over 12 days, they face strenuous climbs high into the Alps, reaching the snow line and crossing the Arlberg Pass, the highest point on their Camino.

Taking part in this physical and spiritual journey are agnostic Jay McGuiness, singer with The Wanted; actor and comedian Helen Lederer, who comes from a mixed heritage background with a culturally Jewish father and Protestant mother; practising Catholic and The Traitors winner Harry Clark; stand-up comedian Daliso Chaponda, who grew up in a Christian family and is exploring the Baháʼí faith; presenter Jeff Brazier, who went to Catholic schools but now describes himself as spiritual and meditates as part of his everyday life; retired Paralympian and practising Christian Stef Reid; and journalist Nelufar Hedayat, who describes herself as a modern Muslim.

As they journey together through the spectacular Alpine landscape, the seven pilgrims share their individual perspectives on faith and belief, while discovering more about themselves and each other.

Their journey culminates at Einsiedeln Abbey, an ancient pilgrimage destination inspired by the followers of the hermit St Meinrad. Today, the abbey continues to draw pilgrims and visitors from around the world, attracted by its history, its venerated Black Madonna and the Benedictine community who live and worship there.
