With the natural world suffering, BBC Bitesize asked us to find five inspirational young workers whose jobs are part of the fight against some of the earth’s biggest problems.

May is 17 and she’s a beekeeper. A fan of beekeeping from a young age, even a near-death experience couldn’t dampen May’s love for our pollinating pals.

Georgie is 21. She’s a scuba diver and underwater photographer. Introduced to fishing by her dad, Georgie made her hobby into a career when she followed her obsession with the ocean all the way to the sea bed.

Elle is 26 and the co-founder of a biodegradable wet wipe business. Trained as a scientist, Elle spent most of her time shut away in a lab, until her friend’s blocked toilet catapulted her career in a whole new direction.

Ryan is 26 years old and the founder of a wearable technology company. Ryan switched aeronautical engineering for sustainable fashion when he noticed how quickly his nephew was outgrowing his baby clothes.

Dan is an ornithologist. She’s 23 and from Llanelli. A lifelong sufferer of anxiety, Dan turns to nature to calm her mind, whilst also protecting the birds and wetlands she loves.
