Songs of Praise is a jewel in the crown of BBC programmes.

First broadcast in October 1961, it is the longest-running religious television programme in the world.

Congregational singing is the beating heart of this much-loved British institution. Our music is wide and diverse and includes traditional church hymns, modern worship songs, gospel choirs, solo performers as well as young and upcoming talent, which we celebrate in our annual event, BBC Young Chorister of the Year.

Combined with inspirational Christian stories from across the UK, our family of presenters also bring their own faith – and sometimes musical talent – to the series too.

Aired on BBC ONE every Sunday of the year, Songs of Praise is a treasured fixture in the schedules.
