One summer a group of young entrepreneurs started growing fruit and vegetables on slivers of unused land on Britain’s second biggest construction site at Kings Cross, North London. Once harvested, the boys sold their produce to local restaurants and canteens. But despite keeping their overheads low, these ambitious teens only made £40 from their start-up business.
But last year’s poor profits haven’t deterred these gutsy youngsters. This summer they have challenged themselves to grow their business (in every sense of the word) – and make ten times what they had made previously. To start with they need a grant – but the only way to get it is by pitching in front of three hard edged business persons: will they make it through their very own Dragon’s Den presentation? Even if they do, they have only 6 weeks of their summer holidays to achieve their goal. Will this curious mix of introverts, extroverts, natural born sellers and class clowns knuckle down and reach their target?
