This audio series is a first for CTVC – a ten part documentary series made for Amazon Audible’s new platform ‘Audible Shows’.
The Audible platform was launched in February 2018 and carries a diverse range of original content from drama documentaries, to comedy and investigative journalism.
This CTVC series is made up of 10 x 30′ episodes on the theme of religion and conflict. At the heart of the series is the Abrahamic ‘family’ of faiths – Jews, Christians and Muslims.
Actor David Suchet converted to Christianity more than 30 years ago and this series is driven by his personal curiosity.
The seemingly simple question he asks is: can Jews, Christians and Muslims live together in peace?
The search for answers takes him to Jerusalem, Bethlehem, New York, and Belfast. He meets leading religious thinkers such as Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, Dr Rowan Williams and Hamza Yusuf. He hears the stories of ordinary Jews, Christians and Muslims with extraordinary stories to tell.
David meets a 93 year old Quaker conscientious objector, a former Al Qaeda propagandist, the parents of a 9/11 victim who forgave his killers, and a former Jewish terrorist who planned to blow up the Dome of the Rock.
It was an extraordinary experience for him. At the end of making the series David Suchet reflected on how it had changed him as a Christian: “I feel as though I have been through a tumble dryer. It has taken me 30 years to get to this point. I still believe in God, but I don’t believe in dogma”.
