BFI Editing and Post Production Specialist Course 2025

Perfect your editing and post-production skills with this exciting BFI Film Academy Specialist course.

If you’re aged 16–19 and passionate about film, this is a brilliant opportunity to deepen your skills, learn from top industry professionals, and take the next step in your film career… for free.

What you’ll do on the course:

  • Learn practical editing skills through tailored masterclasses and hands-on technical workshops
  • Explore post-production techniques using industry-standard software and equipment
  • Take part in live Q&As with Oscar and BAFTA-winning editors and filmmakers
  • Gain insights into real career pathways in post-production
  • Receive expert tips, tricks, and mentoring from leading post professionals
  • Get a 6-month subscription to either Adobe Premiere Pro or AVID
  • Become a BFI Film Academy alumni with access to future work experience opportunities

Online Sessions

  • Saturday 26th July – Full Day
  • Sunday 27th July – Full Day
  • Thursday 31st July – Evening
  • Saturday 2nd August – Morning
  • Thursday 7th August – Evening
Residential Week
YHA Lee Valley Hostel, Windmill Ln, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross EN8 9AJ
Sunday 10th August – Saturday 16th August 2025

Who can apply?

  • You must be aged 16–19 on the first day of the course (26th July 2025)
  • You must have a passion for film and post-production
  • You must be able to attend all online and residential sessions
  • You must be a UK resident
  • You must not be enrolled at university
  • New for 2025: If you’ve previously attended a different BFI Specialist course, you’re still eligible to apply!

No formal qualifications are needed.

Cost and Travel

This course is completely free to attend.
If you need help with travel costs to London, support is available – you’ll be able to apply for assistance as part of the application process.
