ITV REAL CRIME

1x60'
ITV1
Oct 2006

In the summer of 2002 a ruthless sexual predator, Toni Imiela, raped and assaulted at least seven children and women across the south of England. He became known in the press as the M25 rapist because he seemingly struck at random across a vast area. His modus operandi was consistent: he hid in undergrowth and bushes and attacked from behind. He often threatened to kill his victims and always attempted to cause maximum emotional trauma.
This film explores the urgent police investigation into Imiela's crimes but also tells the parallel story from point of view of his wife Christine. The dramatic manhunt across the south of England will be contrasted with the intimate domestic drama played out in the Imiela's home.
The relationship between husband and wife is explored through Imiela's crimes and the police's hunt for Imiela will uncover layers of decption, betrayal and, ultimately forgiveness.
